Dienstag - August - 10.08.2010 - 07:29:44 Uhr

Drag Racing in Hockenheim!
Wenn vom 13. – 15.
Titels“Sportswoman of The Year”, usw.

SWRC Drivers summary - Driver by Driver
SWRC Drivers summary - Driver by Driver
Montag - August - 02.08.2010 - 12:44:08 Uhr
Finnish guest pairing Juho Hänninen and Mikko Markkula triumphed over the S-WRC field this weekend in their Škoda Fabia at Neste Oil Rally Finland, the sixth round of the 2010 FIA Super 2000 World Rally Championship. Swedes P-G Andersson and Patrik Sandell completed a Škoda full house on the S-WRC podium, the two former J-WRC Champions having battled with one another throughout the rally.
Making his S-WRC début in a Fabia, Hänninen sat tight in second for the opening stages on Day One, the central part of a Finnish trio leading the field sandwiched between championship contender Jari Ketomaa and fellow guest driver Matti Rantanen. However, Hänninen was catapulted into the lead when early leader Ketomaa suffered a penalty of over four minutes for leaving midday service late as his team tried to repair an electrical problem. A quick and confident drive then left Hänninen untouchable, cruising home to finish over a minute ahead of the rest of the S-WRC field and ninth overall to claim 25 S-WRC points and 2 WRC points on his first rally of the season.
Having lost the lead, Ketomaa’s high hopes of closing the gap in the S-WRC standings with current leader Xevi Pons –absent in Finland - were obliterated as his rally went from bad to worse. He finished Day One in ninth, only to hit a pylon leaving parc fermé on the morning of Day Two and damage the front of his Fiesta. His Ford was fixed in time to start SS12, but the repairs could not withstand a heavy landing over a jump on the following stage and Ketomaa was forced to retire from his home rally.
Fellow countryman Rantanen benefitted from Ketomaa’s misfortune and climbed to second only to leave the road on SS13 and damage his Fabia beyond repair. The retirements of the two Finns left the way clear for Andersson and Sandell to scoop places on the podium, having fought their way up the field together over the course of the weekend. Andersson’s 18 S-WRC points also elevated him to
second in the overall standings, while a tenth place overall also earned him another WRC point.
Martin Prokop (CZE), Michael Kościuszko (POL) and Nasser Al-Attiyah (QAT) were unable to touch the Scandinavians up front, while Finn Janne Tuohino was plagued by difficulties which left him disappointed with having to settle for sixth in his home rally. The final S-WRC competitor Albert Llovera (AND) retired on SS14 due to engine problems.
21 – MARTIN PROKOP (CZE, Ford Fiesta)
Day One – Prokop loved the fast Finnish stages, but only reached seventh by the end of the first morning, but having won the J-WRC in Finland last year, he pushed harder to try and fulfil his potential. At the end of Day One he had climbed to sixth, assisted by Ketomaa’s penalty, but found it hard to match the pace of the Scandinavians
who were flying on local turf.
Day Two – Unable to catch the Scandinavians who dominated the field, a strong performance throughout left Prokop in fourth in Finland, climbing to third in the S-WRC standings.
22 – NASSER AL-ATTIYAH (QAT, Ford Fiesta)
Day One – Al-Att iyah was feeling positive despite only lying in eighth by the end of Day One. As this was his first outing in Finland, he focused on learning the roads for next year and was pleased that his Fiesta was working well.
Day Two – The Qatari driver steered his Fiesta to a credible seventh, while gaining experience and refining his pace notes on this unfamiliar event.
23 – MICHAL KOŚCIUSZKO (POL, Ford Fiesta)
Day One – Kościuszko didn’t push too hard on Day One, because he wasn’t used to negotiating the fast Finnish gravel stages in his Fiesta. He finished the morning in a disappointing ninth, but he started cautiously to gain experience and increase his confidence, and steadily improved through the afternoon, climbing to seventh,
despite niggling back pain in the wake of his accident in Jordan.
Day Two – The young Polish driver enjoyed the rally, increasing his confidence over the stages which he was tackling for the first time in a 4WD and finished fifth to claim 10 S-WRC points.
24 – PATRIK SANDELL (SWE, Škoda Fabia)
Day One – Sandell pushed his Fabia as hard as possible throughout the first morning, battling for fourth with fellow Swede Andersson, but he couldn’t touch the three Finns at the head of the field. He gained a place when Ketomaa suffered a time penalty for leaving midday service late, but still finished the day fourth, over half a minute behind rival Andersson.
Day Two – Delighted with scooping the last place on the S-WRC podium, Sandell was less pleased to lose his long battle with Andersson and finish nearly 20 seconds behind his rival and fellow countryman.
27 – JANNE TUOHINO (FIN, Ford Fiesta)
Day One – Electrical problems for Tuohino meant his Fiesta kept cutting out on the opening stages of the day. But as expected, he was quick on his home event despite this, particularly enjoying SS6, ending the day in fifth.
Day Two – Tuohino was disappointed to finish sixth on his home rally as his Day One problems with his Fiesta persisted and he had to work with his third different co-driver this season.
29 – JARI KETOMAA (FIN, Ford Fiesta)
Day One – Ketomaa grabbed hold of the lead from the outset and, out to claim a hat trick on home turf, defended his position in his Fiesta assisted by two S-WRC stage wins. However, electrical problems meant he was late out of midday service and was penalised 4 minutes 10 seconds, pulling him down the order to ninth. His difficulties were compounded when he lost his line on a corner in SS8, hit a rock and punctured his rear
right tyre.
Day Two – Leaving parc fermé on the morning of Day Two, Ketomaa hit a pylon. He destroyed the front of his car including the radiator. His Fiesta was fixed in time to start SS12, on which he then set the second best SWRC time. However, the repairs could not withstand a heavy landing over a jump on SS13 and Ketomaa was forced to retire, shattering his hopes of using his home rally to close the absent Pons’ lead in the S-WRC
standings.
30 – ALBERT LLOVERA (AND, Fiat Abarth Grande Punto)
Day One – After a disappointing morning leaving Llovera in tenth, he retired when he hit a stone in his Abarth Grande Punto on SS6, breaking his suspension and losing a wheel.
Day Two – A promising start to Day Two was shattered when his Punto suffered engine woes, forcing Llovera to retire on SS15.
51 – JUHO HÄNNINEN (FIN, Škoda Fabia)
Day One – Guest driver Hänninen finished the morning stages in second in his Fabia, only one second behind leader and fellow Finn Ketomaa, but concerned that his car was underpowered. Ketomaa’s time penalty at midday service moved Hänninen into the lead, which he defended throughout the day, finishing 41 seconds ahead of rival Rantanen, but finding it harder to push his Fabia without anyone to chase.
Day Two – Hänninen dominated the S-WRC field throughout Day Two, holding the lead, claiming four more stage wins and finishing over a minute ahead of second-placed Andersson to claim maximum S-WRC points. He also finished ninth overall, earning himself an additional two WRC points.
52 – MATTI RANTANEN (FIN, Škoda Fabia)
Day One – Happy with his new Fabia, Finnish guest driver Rantanen had a successful day, driving trouble-free and setting consistently good times to reach overnight parc ferme in second. However, with Andersson snapping at his heels, he knew he had to stay focused for Day Two.
Day Two – Rantanen defended his second position on Day Two until SS13 when he left the road and was sadly forced to retire from the rally.
53 – P-G ANDERSSON (SWE, Škoda Fabia)
Day One – Andersson was slowed by damage to his front left wheel which he felt prevented him from catching the three Finns leading the P-WRC on home territory, leaving the Swede content with fourth to start with. By the end of the day however he had moved up to third and hoped to hold onto his place until the finish.
Day Two – Second position after a great drive put Andersson second in the S-WRC standings, though still 18 points off series leader Pons. He also scooped himself a WRC point for finishing 10th in the overall classification.

WRC-News: PWRC nach der Finnland Rallye - Untouchable Tänak streaks to P-WRC win von Admin
PWRC Drivers summary - Driver by Driver
PWRC Drivers summary - Driver by Driver
Montag - August - 02.08.2010 - 12:42:14 Uhr
Young Estonian Pirelli Star Driver Ott Tänak, navigated by experienced co-driver Kuldar Sikk (EST), stole the show this weekend in Neste Oil Rally Finland, the fifth round of the FIA 2010 Production car World Rally Championship. After an early battle with Finnish guest driver Juha Salo, also in a Mitsubishi Lancer, Tänak was in a class of his own and took hold of and defended the lead in the PWRC, scooping his first ever points in style.
The two-time Estonian Champion retired this season in both Turkey and Portugal after promising starts and was determined to make his mark this weekend. Consistently fast times and four stage wins across the Finnish gravel left the unshakeable twenty-two year-old nearly a minute and a half ahead of second-placed guest driver Jukka Ketomäki (FIN, Mitsubishi).
New Zealander and Pirelli Star Driver Hayden Paddon overcame a puncture on the final stage to claim the last spot on the podium, albeit a further minute and a half adrift of Ketomäki. The second-placed Finn’s pace was phenomenal as he racked up nine stage wins and topped the sprinter standings to overcome a series of minor problems with his car over the morning of Day One. Meanwhile, Paddon
proved relentless, sitting in fourth until Championship contender Patrik Flodin’s engine woes on SS14 forced the Swede to retire from the rally.
Flodin’s disappointment was obvious as the absence from Finland of his main rival and reigning P-WRC Champion Armindo Araújo (PRT) gave him the perfect opportunity to top the series standings, and his pace over the first fourteen stages seemed to put triumph within his reach. However, with only eleven finishers from a P-WRC field of sixteen, Flodin wasn’t the only frontrunner to suffer over the weekend.
Early leader Salo was in high hopes of a win on home territory and won five of the first six stages, only to make a mistake on SS7, leave the road and be forced to retire.
34 – MARTIN SEMERÁD (CZE, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo)
Day One – The youngest P-WRC driver had a sound first day in his Mitsubishi, finishing in eighth but wanting to push harder.
Day Two – Having had to use both his spare tyres at the start of SS12, Czech driver Semerád was forced to take the following stages very carefully. His steady approach paid dividends though, because by the end of Day Two he had climbed two places to sixth and took home eight P-WRC points.
36 – NICHOLAI GEORGIOU (LBN, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo)
Day One – Pirelli Star Driver Georgiou ended Day One in tenth in his Mitsubishi having driven steadily learning about the unfamiliar fast Finnish gravel roads along the way.
Day Two – Georgiou finished tenth, albeit nearly 20 minutes behind ninth-placed Horsey. Nonetheless, the British-Lebanese driver was pleased to finish his first rally in Finland and was happy with his Mitsubishi’s performance.
37 – PETER HORSEY (KEN, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo)
Day One – Kenyan Pirelli Star Driver Horsey finished Day One in eleventh in his Mitsubishi. The day did not start well for him because he found the fast, gravel roads difficult to manoeuvre. He did gradually find his rhythm, even though his new co-driver Cooledge’s window dropped open on SS10, causing a lot of noise and dust.
Day Two – His first time on the fast Finnish roads, Horsey drove trouble-free second day and was pleased to finish ninth, gaining experience and taking home two P-WRC points.
38 – HAYDEN PADDON (NZL, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo)
Day One – Pirelli Star Driver Paddon had some initial difficulties with pace notes but gradually built his confidence while battling with Flodin ending the day in third in his Mitsubishi, less than a second behind his Swedish rival.
Day Two – Paddon overcame a puncture 4km from the end of the final stage to scoop the last spot on the PWRC podium on his first Finnish rally.
39 – ALEX RASCHI (SMR, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo)
Day One – This San Marinese Pirelli Star Driver drove his Mitsubishi to seventh at the end of Day One, enjoying the fantastic stages on his first ever Rally Finland.
Day Two – Raschi had a steady drive to finish the event in sixth and claim his first 10 P-WRC points.
40 – OTT TÄNAK (EST, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo)
Day One – Delighted to reach the end of Day One leading the P-WRC after two stage wins (SS2 & SS8), 22-year old Pirelli Star Driver and two-time Estonian Rally Champion Tänak overcame damage to the rear of his Lancer to conquer stages similar to those he effortlessly mastered at home.
Day Two – Tänak coolly steered his Mitsubishi to victory, managing to convert the speed and promise he had shown before his retirements in Turkey and Portugal into a well-earned victory and 25 P-WRC points.
41 – ALESSANDRO BRUSCHETTA (ITA, Subaru Impreza)
Day One – Following a promising start, Bruschetta retired from Day One after an accident which damaged his Subaru Impreza beyond repair on SS6. He did not restart on Day Two.
43 – REIJO MUHONEN (FIN, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo)
Day One – On Day One on his home event, Muhonen finished sixth in his Lancer. He was especially pleased with this result because it was his first rally with new co-driver Teiskonen, after his former navigator Miettinen was injured in an accident in Jordan.
Day Two – Muhonen had a steady start to Day Two and came in seventh, a good result for him on his home rally.
44 – PAULO NOBRE (BRA, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo)
Day One – Nobre loved his first time on the fast Finnish stages. However after rolling his Mitsubishi on SS3, he was left in thirteenth by the end of the day and over an hour behind leader Tänak.
Day Two – A positive Day Two was shattered at the last minute when Nobre’s steering arm broke on SS18 and he had to retire from the rally.
45 – WANG RUI (CHN, Subaru Impreza)
Day One – Wang’s Subaru suffered two punctures on the first day, but a steady drive left this representative of the first ever Chinese World Rally Team in ninth and looking to push harder on Day Two.
Day Two - Delighted to have completed his first rally in Finland, Wang negotiated the gravel roads to come in eighth and snap up four P-WRC points.
46 – ANDERS GRØNDAL (NOR, Subaru Impreza)
Day One – Unphased by this being his first rally back since he broke his back on a small Norwegian rally in April, Grøndal enjoyed the fast roads and big jumps on Day One, ending the day in fifth in his Impreza after setting consistently strong times, and hoping to go even quicker on the final day.
Day Two – Having high hopes of a podium finish, Grøndal’s confidence increased throughout the rally, but even after Flodin’s retirement, he couldn’t quite catch the leader and had to be satisfied with fourth place in the PWRC.
47 – NUNO BARROSO (PRT, Subaru Impreza)
Day One - A good start for Barroso came to abrupt end on SS6 when the gearbox broke on his Subaru and he was forced to retire from Day One. He did not restart on Day Two.
48 – PATRIK FLODIN (SWE, Subaru Impreza)
Day One – Needing to finish fifth to top rival and reigning P-WRC Champion Araújo in the series standings, Flodin finished Day One in an impressive second place in his Subaru Impreza, picking up a stage win on SS7. He was driving quickly throughout, but needed to find more pace on Day Two to fend off rival Paddon, who finished
under a second behind him.
Day Two – A strong start to Day Two and Flodin held second place until engine woes on SS14 forced him to retire from the rally, crushing his hopes of taking the lead in the 2010 P-WRC standings.
49 – JUHA SALO (FIN, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo)
Day One – Guest driver Salo blasted through the early stages in his Mitsubishi, racking up five stage wins (SS1, SS3-6) and taking an early lead on his home rally. Unfortunately, he went off the road on SS7 and was unable to continue on Day One. The damage to his Mitsubishi was superficial enough to repair, but having lost any hope
of a podium finish, Salo chose not to restart on Day Two.
50 – JUKKA KETOMÄKI (FIN, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo)
Day One – Three consecutive stage wins (SS9-11) in his Mitsubishi marked a superb end to Day One for guest driver Ketomäki. This propelled him from sixth at midday service into fourth and only thirty seconds behind the duo battling for second.
Day Two – Six more stage wins on Day Two meant Ketomäki flew up into second place, snatching 18 P-WRC points and a proud place on his home podium.
54 – MICHEL JOURDAIN (MEX, Mitsubishi Lancer Evo)
Day One – Jourdain finished Day One in twelfth, but remained optimistic, pleased to be gaining experience in his first ever season rallying and hoping for better times in his Mitsubishi on the final day.
Day Two – A broken radiator in the morning and intercooler in the afternoon meant Jourdain finished nearly an hour behind winner Tänak. He was however pleased to gain experience and to finish the rally despite these problems.

Citroën scores a double podium in the land of 1000 lakes
The Citroën Total World Rally Team crews improved their positions on the second day of Rally Finland. Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia in their first race for the works team, finished in a magnificent second place a few seconds in front of Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena. This double podium has helped the Citroën Total World Rally Team to increase its lead in the FIA Manufacturers’ World Championship.
After a short night, the crews left the Jyväskylä service park in pouring rain. Around 100 kms from there, the stages of the first of the three loops were also soaking wet. Sébastien Ogier was on the pace straight away in the rally setting the fastest time in Kolonkulma (SS12). In Väärinmaja, the longest stage of the event, it was Sébastien Loeb’s turn to stun the onlookers. By setting the second-best time, Ogier took
second place from Petter Solberg and got to within 15s of the leader, Jari-Matti Latvala! The latter fought back in the following stage, but the C4 WRC drivers were more than pleased at the end of the first three stages.
“I’m trying to keep up the pace while leaving myself a small safety margin. My aim’s not to go after Jari- Matti, but to see the finish in the best possible position,” underlined Ogier. As for Loeb he had third place in his sights: “The gaps between Sébastien, Jari-Matti and me are fairly small this morning. On the other hand, Petter Solberg has lost time and I’m only a few seconds behind him. We’re going to continue to push to overtake him.”
The six-time world champion achieved his objective with two more fastest times in Leustu 1 and Himos 1 (SS15 and 16). Ogier was also setting a searing pace and he closed the gap to Latvala. After posting the fastest time in SS17 (Surkee 2), the Frenchman reduced the Finn’s lead to only 10 seconds!
The rally ended with a second passage through the Leustu and Himos stages. Ogier kept up the pressure on Latvala right till the end: “Even if it’s difficult for me to be satisfied with second place, I have to say that this result is even better than I expected. For our second Rally Finland, we were able to up the pace without overdoing it. I’m very satisfied with the second day as we’ve finished only ten seconds behind the winner. I’d really like to thank the whole team, which helped to fight right up till the finish.”
Loeb, who came home third, was also satisfied: “Bravo to Jari-Matti and Sébastien who drove great rallies. It’s good for the sport that the team didn’t give any orders at the end of the race. The fifteen points I scored today are a precious help in view of the championship. I’ve achieved my aim in this rally.”
“With our crews finishing in second and third places, we’ve increased our lead of eight points in the Manufacturers’ Championship,” summed up Olivier Quesnel, the Citroën Racing Team Principal. “Citroën loves the sport and again we chose not to ask our drivers to reverse their positions. Bravo to the two Sebs as they knew how to drive very quickly without making any mistakes
Citroën Junior Team takes flight in Finland
This year’s Rally Finland was driven at a frantic pace and at the end of it the Citroën Junior Team managed to place its two C4 WRCs in the points. Dani Sordo and Marc Marti finished fifth, reinforcing their position in the World Championship for drivers. Despite a mistake at the beginning of day two, Kimi Räikkönen and Kaj Lindström got to the finish with another 310 kilometres of valuable experience under their belts.
The second day of the Rally Finland got underway at 0550. After a 15-minute service, the crews embarked on a long road section in stormy conditions.
By the time they started the stages the roads were still damp. “ The conditions weren’t perfect, ” reported Dani Sordo. “I tried to keep up a good pace without taking any risks.” On the first two stages, the Spaniard set fourth-fastest and fifth-fastest times.
Kimi Räikkönen was deprived of another top eight finish on the first stage of the day. “We arrived a bit too quickly into a corner at the start of the stage,” he said. “The car slid towards the outside and became stuck in a ditch. It was unfortunately a place where there were no spectators nearby. Several eventually came running to help get us out. We had to change a wheel in order to complete the stage. The front bumper was broken, but there was no other serious damage. We were then able to continue the rally with no further problems.”
Using all the experience he is gradually accumulating, the Finn was able to reduce the gap that separated him from the frontrunners in the afternoon. “It was an extremely difficult rally. During our first passage through the stages, we just concentrated on checking our notes so that we could continue to make progress. As soon as the terrain became a bit more familiar, I was able to up my pace slightly. But there’s still a lot for us to learn before we can really start to go quickly on this type of terrain.”
Dani Sordo maintained his solid and mistake-free fifth place to the finish, scoring 10 points in the World Championship for drivers. “We were right on the pace at the start of the rally,” he said. “That’s a really positive thing. The car was competitive too. I would have preferred a better final result but the experience that we have accumulated is important. Now I’m going to concentrate hard on the end of the season.”
Citroën Junior Team Manager Benoit Nogier concluded: “The Citroën Junior Team C4 WRCs went like clockwork over both days of the Rally Finland,” he said. “Kimi is continuing his learning curve: he did a very good job on the first day but had a setback on the morning of day two. Afterwards he found his pace again and got closer to the frontrunners. It’s very encouraging for the rest of the season. Dani started off really well as he was in the thick of the lead battle between Latvala, Ogier, Loeb and Solberg. He then lost a bit of concentration and conceded a handful of seconds that ruled him out of the fight for victory.
But he didn’t make any mistakes and brought the car home safely at the end of his first rally with our team. This was an important event for him and he thoroughly succeeded in it.”
The next rally for the Citroën Junior Team will be on asphalt, when Sébastien Ogier and Kimi Räikkönen take the start of the ADAC Rallye Deutschland from 20-22 August.
